Help with setting up Stamplink, and answers to common questions.
Get started
- Get Stamplink from the Mac App Store and open it. The stamp appears in the menu bar.
- The welcome window asks to make Stamplink your default email app. Click Use as default.
- Add your accounts in Settings, Email. Pick the service, type the address, and choose an icon if you like.
- Click any email link. Choose the account in the picker, or let a rule choose for you.
Making Stamplink your default email app
Apple's App Sandbox does not let an app change the default email app by itself. Stamplink offers two ways:
With the helper script. In the welcome window or in Settings, General, click Install. A save window opens in Stamplink's own scripts folder. Click Install without changing the folder, and Stamplink can make itself the default with one click. The script only changes the default app for email, calendar and phone links, opens Chrome in the right profile, and closes old copies of a Safari web app after you recreate it.
Without the script. Open Mail, choose Mail, Settings, General, and pick Stamplink under Default email reader.
Common questions
Gmail opens on the wrong account.
Make sure you are signed in to that Google account in the browser you chose for it. Stamplink adds your address to the link, so Google picks the right one. In a Chrome profile, choose the profile in Settings, Email, under the account.
A Gmail app in the Dock says it cannot open the link.
This happens when Safari replaces a web app while the old one is still running. With the helper script installed, Stamplink quits the old copy for you. Without it, quit the web app and open it again.
The recipient is not filled in Gmail.
Gmail's small compose window sometimes needs a little help. Allow Stamplink in System Settings, Privacy and Security, Accessibility. Without it, the address is on your clipboard, ready to paste.
How do I open calendar invitations or phone numbers?
Turn them on in Settings, General. Then choose which calendars to use under Calendar, and how phone numbers should open under Phone.
How do I go back to Mail?
In Settings, General, click Give back to Mail. Your settings stay in Stamplink if you change your mind.
How do I uninstall Stamplink?
Give the links back to Mail first, then drag Stamplink to the Trash. If you installed the helper script, you can delete it from ~/Library/Application Scripts/no.skaflestad.postbud.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
